Handcrafted Japanese noren made in Nepal
Our Japanese panels are handcrafted by our artisans in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. They reflect the craftsmanship and expertise behind each MUSKHANE creation.
Each Japanese panel is the result of a meticulous artisanal process. Slight variations in colour or size may appear from one piece to another, highlighting the unique character of every creation.
A Japanese curtain to softly divide spaces
Combining the qualities of a decorative curtain, a room divider and a textile artwork, MUSKHANE noren panels offer a new way of experiencing the home: softer, more fluid and more harmonious.
In contemporary interiors, open spaces are appreciated for their brightness and convivial atmosphere. Yet it can sometimes be useful to define certain areas, to keep rooms cooler, reduce drafts, preserve calm or create more privacy.
The Japanese noren is then an ideal solution.
Installed in a doorway, between two living spaces or at the entrance to an office, it creates a light separation while preserving movement and visual perspective. Unlike a traditional partition, it structures the space without completely closing it off.
Its felted texture gently filters light, creates a feeling of intimacy and adds depth to the decoration.
A split curtain inspired by Japanese art of living
Much more than a simple room divider, the Japanese noren is a true decorative element.
Its clean lines, natural materials and minimalist aesthetic naturally complement wabi-sabi, japandi and nature-inspired interiors.
Naturally insulating materials
Wool felt has many qualities that make it particularly appreciated in the home. Naturally insulating, it helps reduce drafts while keeping interiors cool in summer and warm in winter.
Thanks to its density and felted texture, it also contributes to improved acoustic comfort by absorbing some surrounding sounds. A valuable quality in open-plan living spaces!
An invitation to bring into your home the beauty of natural materials, Nepalese craftsmanship and the harmony inspired by Japanese interiors.
How to install your Japanese noren?
The installation of MUSKHANE Japanese felt panels is simple and designed to adapt easily to different types of openings.
Each panel features a discreet sleeve at the top. Simply slide a wooden rod or bamboo rod inside to hold the curtain and give it structure. The rod then allows the panel to be suspended directly in a doorway, against a wall or within a suitable frame. Several installation options are possible:
- wall mounting with suitable supports for the rod (such as curtain rod brackets or hooks)
- tension installation between two walls
Once installed, the panel naturally unfolds. This simple installation makes it easy to move or reinvent its use: as a room divider, an entrance decoration or to create a more intimate passageway, depending on your everyday needs.
